White or tooth coloured fillings have revolutionised the way in which we provide dentistry. White fillings ensure a healthier, whiter appearance which is a preferable to the traditional amalgam fillings. A crown may be required to ‘cap’ a tooth, restoring its natural shape, providing strength and
function. This maybe needed if teeth have suffered from damage, owing to decay, trauma or root canal treatment. Crowns can also be used at the front of the mouth to provide a cosmetic improvement too.

What are crowns and bridges made of?
Every crown or bridge made is completely bespoke by our experienced team of dental technicians. They can be made from a variety of tooth-coloured materials, including; resin, ceramic and porcelain fused to metal. Gold and steel are also an option in certain cases.
How are crowns and bridges fitted?
The procedure usually requires two sessions at West Parade Dental Care. First the dentist will prepare your tooth for a crown, filing it down into a shape that best accommodates the prosthetic restoration. Dental impressions are then taken, which will be sent to a laboratory. You’ll be given a temporary crown while you wait for your crown or bridge to be made. When it’s ready, your dentist will fit your restoration, cementing it in place using a bonding agent.

Bridges
A dental bridge replaces a tooth by gaining its support from neighbouring teeth. In some cases the bridge may need fixing at one or both ends, the supporting teeth may need little or no reshaping to accommodate this. Suitability for this option needs to be assessed but when used in the correct application, this can work very well.

Dentures
Dentures can be used to replace individual, multiple or all of your teeth. At West Parade Dental care we speak work closely with very skilled local technicians who can provide different types of dentures described below:

Dentures combine prosthetic teeth attached to soft plastic, which sit over your natural gums. Upper dentures cover the roof of the mouth and are designed to be held in place by suction.
